Congressmen John Shimkus (R, IL-19), Eliot Engel (D, NY-17), and Roscoe Bartlett (R, MD-6), Bob Dinneen of the Renewable Fuels Association, Gregory Dolan of the Methanol Institute, and former National Security Advisor Robert McFarlane will kick-off their efforts in support of the Open Fuel Standard (OFS) Act (HR 1687). They'll also talk about how the President’s May 24th memorandum on Federal Fleet Performance is complementary to the legislation.
The Open Fuel Standard Act would require that 50 percent of new automobiles in 2014, 80 percent in 2016, and 95 percent in 2017, would be warranted to operate on nonpetroleum fuels in addition to or instead of petroleum based fuels.
